I think we are screwed.

I found this humorous. At the same time it brought me to think about how integrated all of these machines and electronics have become in our daily lives. What of these things do we really need? Are we beyond the point of no return? Could we survive without cellphones, computers, televisions, microwaves, automobiles, air conditioning, refrigerators, etc...? It's frightening to me how quickly we gain reliance for these objects. As a child 10 years ago I enjoyed playing outside. We'd make up silly games, play tag, baseball, 4 square. We'd pretend we were in some crazy world or that we were on a plane that had crashed and now were forced to survive. My concern is that my children won't have that experience I had. It almost feels inevitable. I wonder if my parents thought the same things when I was born.
So... Technology has failed me, at least for today.
