Funk

I think I've fallen into a funk. I hope it goes away soon.

Confidence.

I'm going to do it!

Red Balloon.

Today I bought Carlie a red balloon.
I hope it never pops.

The Soup

Hilarious.

Tattoos.

I could never get a tattoo myself, but having watched a lot of LA Ink lately, I have been looking at some tattoos online. Here are a couple of my favorites. Maybe I'll post more later.

"O"

Carlie recently had to write a paper on the Shakespeare play, "Othello." I was unfamiliar with the piece up until a couple weeks ago. Well, a few days back we decided to rent this movie, "O". I guess Carlie had seen some bits and pieces in class and I was fairly interested in the story.

This movie was unbelievably bad-ass. It left me feeling rather strange. I can't say it was a good feeling, but it is rare for a movie to invoke any emotion for me.  Be forewarned, this is not a happy movie.

Two fun games!

I've been playing a lot of free online games lately (NERD. I know!).
Here are two of my favorites!

Techmology. Is it real?

I think we are screwed.

So I was riding the bus the other day and this lady hopped on carrying an iphone. She had to have been in her late fifties or early sixties. As I sat observing her I noticed that she held her Iphone rather gingerly in the tips of her fingers as if it was some kind of alien technology. She was online reading, some sort of article and at one point she must have needed to re-orient the page horizontally. Instead of simple turning the phone she held it over her head and aggressively flipped it on it's side.

I found this humorous. At the same time it brought me to think about how integrated all of these machines  and electronics have become in our daily lives. What of these things do we really need? Are we beyond the point of no return? Could we survive without cellphones, computers, televisions, microwaves, automobiles, air conditioning, refrigerators, etc...? It's frightening to me how quickly we gain reliance for these objects. As a child 10 years ago I enjoyed playing outside. We'd make up silly games, play tag, baseball, 4 square. We'd pretend we were in some crazy world or that we were on a plane that had crashed and now were forced to survive. My concern is that my children won't have that experience I had. It almost feels inevitable. I wonder if my parents thought the same things when I was born.

So... Technology has failed me, at least for today.
